20 Years of Sauti Sol. 18 with you.
Recounting your journey without mine, is impossible. We have been intertwined for the past 18 years. My life is nothing without you, as your career is nothing without my contribution. I learnt to be the best Publicist and the problem solver though the hard knock school of Sauti; before we added the Sol, before the Generation and certainly before the festivals, concerts, dancing with Presidents, the fame, fortune and everything that comes with celebrity. Through it all, we fought hard to win. At all costs. We loved each other hard. I made lifelong brothers and also a best friend in Chimano.
They love me so much that they pitched my husband to me and pitched me over to him [way before we ever knew we would fall in love] . How can your friends know you so well that they pick a husband for you? We have been through countless ups and downs, but ours is a special bond that can’t be broken.
I always referred to you all as my super stars. And I worked so hard to make sure everyone knew and heard you. I always knew that anywhere you would go; you would succeed as soon as anyone heard and felt you. You are so gifted, and so so specific, at how you do your things and I learnt a lot about hard work, consistency and perfection through you. You are music. You are grace. You are charisma. Your talent, extreme passion for what you do and believe in – would always singlehandedly see you succeed and achieve your heart’s desires, in any other world or timeline.
Like Siamese twins [Mapacha] may you and the loves of your life, remain inseparable. May you all keep each other safe and warm. You deserve all the love, respect and adoration.
I am so thankful to all the people who came into our lives to open or close doors.
You boarded the proverbial Midnight Train. A new journey and adventure will meet you where you will alight. I hope that it brings you back to the very start [Mwanzo] – where we started. I hope it keeps you grounded and reminds you of all the life lessons [ Mafunzo Ya Dunia ]. The voices of light – yes, you are. The soul of our generation.
